carlos savelli: venezia, venezia, Italy; Carlos Savelli was born in Mendoza, Argentina, in 1971, in the heart of an Italian family, where he grew up influenced by the photographic environment that surrounded him from the first years due to the family business. Drawing and painting in traditional media from an early age, making sculptures and ceramics, and of course teasting the magic of the world of photography, Savelli found himself displaying his first works to the public in the early 1990's. In parallel to the studies carried out (he get his Bachelor's degree in international trade in 1995), he received formal training in plastic arts at diferents institutes and workshops. In 1996 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he continued his artistic work. He has made more than 60 presentations of his works around the world and obtained 14 different awards and distinctions in his career. Savelli’s current work commands attention through the use of bold color, graphic geometric patterns and realism. His portrait work is heavy, steeped in solemn imagery, symbols, all saturated with bright, eye-popping color. He currently resides in the Italian city of Venice, from where he continues his work in permanent evolution.
